Member-only story
I’ve been the single one in the room for years.
I am single-single. That means that even if I know I’m going to be the 11th wheel at a dinner party, I can’t think of a guy to invite.
Human beings are social creatures and do not like to feel singled out. It can feel isolating, at times.
There are many ways people are showing off their relationships to you. Perhaps, you are more sensitive, and feeling left out.
Social media is both a blessing and curse for the Millennial generation. It is often used to brag and seek validation.
My news feed consists of mostly travel photos and relationship-related posts. These are engagements, weddings, and other forms of relationship-bragging.
Relationship-bragging posts are shout-outs to their significant others. Posts are about how happy and excited they are that they have found the love of their lives.
Some examples of common Instagram captions are:
- 28 days till I’m married to the love of my life!
- Happy birthday to the hubby!! Fifth birthday together and best 5 years of my life. I love you so much ❤
- So thankful to the universe for giving me this handsome, capable and loving boyfriend 😍😍😍
