Over 587,000 people in the United States tested positive for the Coronavirus. More people are asymptomatic or cannot get tested despite having symptoms.

Not all positive people are self-isolating due to lack of resources and guidance.

There are several reasons as to why people who tested positive for COVID-19 are not self-isolating:

Self-isolation is a recommendation with no consequences

As of now, self-isolating is only a strong recommendation from the media and government. If there were penalties or consequences, people would be more mindful.

It is a personal decision to stay home. In public, it is impossible to differentiate between a positive or negative person.

By leaving this decision on the individuals’ hands, we are enabling the spread of the virus. There is way to tell if someone you bump into on a walk around the neighborhood is positive or not. They can get away with it

As of now, the government has not informed us on how to proceed.
